(Alto) Holly has always been a singer. Although not professionally trained, from the time she was a child pretending her toy baton was a microphone, to the present, she has always taken up opportunities to sing. Holly was a member of the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church choir all through her youth, as well as very involved in the Grosse Pointe North choir and theatre programs during her high school years. She was President of the Grosse Pointe North Concert Choir, as well as a member of the Girl's Group and Pointe Chorale, and was voted the recipient of the Herman Klein Award for Spirit from her classmates her senior year as a result of her enthusiasm for choral singing. As Holly went on to college at Michigan State University, she participated in the Women's Glee Club and smaller women's harmonizing ensemble until she transferred to Western Michigan University. After graduation, Holly was busy earning her Master's in Library and Information Science at Wayne State University, but meanwhile she sang a season with the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus, and was given the special opportunity to sing at numerous friends and family member's weddings.

Since opportunities to sing at weddings did not keep Holly singing as frequently as she would like, and the Community Chorus did not present the type of musical challenges she sought, Holly joined the Detroit Concert Choir beginning the 2000-2001 season. She is honored to be associated with such an exceptional choral group. Holly took suggestions to "break a leg" a bit too seriously while traveling through Austria for the July 2001 international choral competition in Spittal (she broke her ankle on those tricky cobblestone streets). Yet, she was thrilled when the entire group did the same (figuratively, of course) in July 2006 and brought home top honors from the international musical festival in Llangollen, Wales.
