This season is a very special year for the Detroit Concert Choir. We are celebrating our 25th season of exceptional choral music!
The Detroit Concert Choir is pleased to present its exciting 25th concert season, performing in some of the most historic and beautiful churches and halls around metro Detroit. Under the dynamic leadership of Director Gordon Nelson, the group presents our local communities with a season of extraordinary choral music including the ever-popular Christmas concerts. The Detroit Concert Choir has a worldwide reputation for excellence and has received awards and acclamations in eight international choral festivals, including the "Choir of the World" title from the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales and the nationally acclaimed "Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence". With over 80 singers from over 40 communities, the ensemble presents a variety of concerts each season. The group's vast repertoire includes contemporary a cappella compositions, American folk and gospel, and great masterworks for chorus and orchestra. The Detroit Concert Choir is honored to Community Partners with the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts and performs three concerts there this season: Oct 23, 2011 (A Celebration of Voices): Dec 18, 2011 (Come Home for Christmas); and March 11, 2012 (A Celtic Celebration).
